I really like this photo! Your compostion is really good, with the main focal point in the center, and a body trailing off to the right. Despite this, the photo doesn't look unbalanced because of the position of the cat.. does that make sense? It's facing right, so it balances out the fact that it is trailing of to the left. I love the colours, too: the blue and the tan-brown work perfectly together giving the photo a happy and optimistic look. I love the way the head of the cat is slightly cocked, it re-enforces this in my opinion. You've lit it in a way that there is no shadow over the cat, or any intruding shadows on the picture, but there is a gentle shadow coming from the cat, which I like because it makes the cat look like it's looking at the light source.
Although - as I always like to nitpick with my critiques - I don't think the title quite captures the feeling of the photo properly. I don't think the wooden toy is so much 'coming alive' as something else. Perhaps a title to do with optimism and wondering would be better?
But you've done a good job here; you've injected personality into an inanimate object which is hard to do!
